The Old Castle of Astros, with a rich historical past, is located in the heart of 'Côtes de Provence' within the French Riviera. The Commanderie build during the 12th century by the Templars have been occupy by its builder, then by the association of Saint Jean of Jerusalem know under the name of Knight of Malta. With the Revolution the Castle is sold.
For this time, the old Castle of Astros has been always the property of family MAUREL.
In 1970, Christian-Pierre MAUREL raise the quality of wines, in combine the quality of soil with a constant improvement with all the stage of development of wine. The wines of the Old Castle of Astros have a pronounced flavor.
Plants are carried out regularly with the new type of vine introduction, the medieval cellars allow a quality of ideal conservation. Today, the Castle distributes approximately 120.000 bottles for restaurants .

wines in White, Rosé
and Red:

The Old Castle of Astros
'CUVEE DU COMMANDER:'
Red:
Cabernet
- Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache.
The complementarity of these three type of vines is reinforced here
by a nine months aged in oak barrels from France (Allier). It can be to
taste dice now or to await well its maturity in two to three years. Its
dress ruby, its bouquet of red fruits good ripe evolves between leather
flavours to the cinnamon and spice. It can be perfect with a red meat,
follow-up of a cheese.
Rosé : Grenache
and Vieux Cinsault (1930).
Presented in a nice salmon dress, brilliant
; it has the perfumes of valley surround it: floral drawing on the wild
red fruits. It's a perfect rosé to serve with fish and sea food.
White : Sémillon,
and Vermentino (called also Rolle).
A pale gold dress with green reflections and an elegant perfume of pineapple and banana, gives him a round and silky tasting. It is perfect on sea food or a roasted fish.
